Discord Bot Setup

Add and link the Fivemanage Bot to your Discord server

Connect the Fivemanage Bot to your Discord server to enable role management, notifications, and whitelist integration features.

Prerequisites

Before starting, ensure you have:

  • Discord Server Admin permissions
  • Manage Roles permission in Discord
  • Access to your Fivemanage team dashboard

Adding the Fivemanage Bot

Step 1: Access Discord Settings

  1. Navigate to app.fivemanage.com
  2. Find the Discord Server Whitelist Link section

Step 2: Add Bot to Server

  1. Click the "Add Fivemanage to your Discord server" button
  2. You'll be redirected to Discord's authorization page
  3. Select your server from the dropdown
  4. Review the requested permissions
  5. Click Authorize

The Fivemanage Bot requires the following permissions:

  • Manage Roles (to assign whitelist roles)
  • Send Messages (for notifications)
  • Use Slash Commands (for bot commands)
  • Read Message History (for command context)

Step 3: Configure Bot Permissions

After adding the bot, ensure proper role hierarchy:

  1. Go to your Discord Server Settings
  2. Navigate to Roles
  3. Find the Fivemanage bot role
  4. Drag it above any roles you want it to manage

The Fivemanage Bot can only manage roles that are positioned below it in the role hierarchy. Place it high enough to manage your whitelist roles.

Linking Your Team

  1. In any channel where the bot has access, type /link
  2. The bot will respond with a unique linking URL
  3. Click the URL to open the linking page
  4. Confirm the team connection

Verification Process

The linking process:

  1. Verifies your Discord server ID
  2. Connects to your Fivemanage team
  3. Syncs available roles
  4. Enables integration features

Once linked, the connection persists. You only need to link once per server.
